“But seek first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness, and ALL things shall be added to you” Matthew 6:33
We have a tendency to seek and put everything and everyone before God. I often hear Christians giving every excuse why they can’t do more for God. They put education, their kids, careers, EVERYTHING before Him without realizing that all these things last but for awhile.
Anything you put before God is not adding to your spiritual growth. Rather these things becomes a hindrance. These things are affecting your relationship with God and His purpose for your life.
This life is uncertain, time is very short, Jesus’ coming is right around the corner; so we must attend to the matter of making God our first priority. But how can we make God our first priority? By seeking Him first! How do you seek Him? Through prayer, through prayerful reading of His Word, put your faith in Him, and trusting Him.
Friends, until you start putting God first in your lives, only then will you be truly satisfied. It doesn’t matter how many vacations you take, how many Degrees you earned, how successful you and your kids become; you will still be empty and will find yourself still needing more. Jeremiah 17:7 says “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord, and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.” You will never know the full reward of obedience until you put God where He belongs, FIRST in your life.
I want to think, where does God fit in your life? Is He first? If not, who is? Friends if you look at your lives and saw that you are not putting God ahead of everything, I want to encourage you today to focus first on the God who loves you, and who cares for the people you love. Seek first His kingdom and His way of righteousness every day.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for this beautiful promise. We hold our hands open, entrusting all that we are and all that we hold dear to You as we seek You, Your kingdom, and Your righteousness. Help us to live with bold trust. In Jesus, Amen.
